The Friends of the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe was founded in 1989 and is a volunteer, non-profit organization which supports this historically significant destination.
To preserve the historic portion of this unique site and to interpret it's significance; to encourage and support on-going educational projects relating to the 1850's and continuing to the present, inviting participatory learning: to encourage public usage of the grounds and non-historic portions of the property through facility rentals; and to provide volunteer assistance and the philanthropic services of soliciting and receiving funds to improve the Adobe's facilities and programs.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
There's no way to sugarcoat it; we need YOU! We've had to reduce our hours due to lack of volunteers so we are actively recruiting for new docents and volunteers. If you are interested, or want to learn more, please send an email to 'firstname.lastname@example.org'.
We appreciate your support!
Our docents are trained about the rich history of the Adobe so they can share the information and stories about the past with our visitors.
The Friends manage regular art shows in the Adobe's Art Gallery which feature paintings, photography, textiles, and other art from local artists.
Volunteers manage the Gift Shop including acquiring all items to be sold at the shop, merchandising, and sales.
Acquisition volunteers meet on a regular basis to take stock of the items on display at the Adobe, manage items received from donors, and ensure that all items in and around the Adobe are historically appropriate.
Our volunteers organize, advertise, and execute several events each year. We regularly hold a Bluegrass concert with Ice Cream Social, we participate in the Vista Holiday Homes Tour, and we have a Santa event each year.
